As a wedding & affair organizer, I am subject to more than my fair share of indignation and rage. You see, til people plan their first wedding, they never think about how much wedding ceremonies cost. The problem is that, even if you buy low-cost bridal dresses, reasonably priced wedding cakes, low priced bridesmaid gowns, & all the rest, it will still add up to lots of money. The bottom line is that, if you want to have that reasonably priced wedding, you need to be willing to make sacrifices.

I am not saying that having low-cost wedding ceremonies is impossible. If you are willing to have a small wedding day ceremony with just a few of your very closest friends there, you can do it for quite a realistic price. You can make it special by incorporating touches like top wedding songs. The issue is that, if having low-cost wedding ceremonies is your intention, you need to plan everything around it. That means that you need to have a small guest list, make reservations at some reasonably priced place, have some affordable wedding day dress, rent a tuxedo for the groom, and play top wedding songs on a less expensive sound system, usually scrimp and save at every opportunity. Some of my clients have actually taken their own wedding day photographs to save on the cost of hiring a wedding day photographer!

The bottom line is that the most reasonably priced weddings are done in a judge's chambers. Everything else that you do costs extra money. Some families go into debt for years due to what they spend on having a grand, extravagant wedding day. To me, it looks like a pity. When I meet customers who truly want to have inexpensive wedding ceremonies, I tell them to have them in the backyard. That way, they can save on wedding day reservations - & play your top wedding songs on a boombox, if essential! If they are really ambitious, they can even cater it them-selves. If there are going to be more than thirty people there, however, this is generally not an awfully good idea.

I guess that it all really depends on what you expect from your wedding day. When I first became married, all I desired was some simple ceremony to give my love to my wife. If this is all that you want as well, it is going to be quite easy for you to plan some low-cost wedding day. If, on the flip side of the coin, you wish to have an extravagant party with all of your friends and family, you will have to pay for it.
