Tell a wedding planner that you want to have a cheap wedding, and you'll instantaneously see him or her cringe. Yet that was precisely the position that I was in with my marriage. Luckily, the wedding planner with my own sister, but regrettably, cheap meant very, very low priced. I was half tempted, to tell you the truth, to wait another year or two until I was on more secure financial footing, but it was very important to my bride-to-be to be married. We had decided that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together, and she wanted to make it official.

My idea was to have the most low cost wedding we could by simply getting married in the eyes of the state. We did not need all the fancy ceremony and country wedding songs to be married! You get a wedding certificate, take a weekend trip, and have done with it. No massive dress, no guest list, no country wedding songs, no giant bills to pay. It would be a lot more fun than having a massive troublesome occasion with all of our friends and family, and it would only cost a few hundred dollars. She wouldn't hear of it, however. She was willing to have cheap wedding decorations and a discount wedding gown, but one way or another she was getting married traditionally - country wedding songs and all.

There's nothing more tedious than planning inexpensive weddings. You see, there is no miraculous low priced weddings trick. You have to simply save money and everything that you can. You have to find a way to get cheap wedding invitations, cheap wedding centerpieces, cheap bridesmaid dresses, and even a somehow low priced room to have the reception in. The last one is easy assuming that you know someone with space that they will let you use. In my case, we were able to use my folks backyard and save a lot of money on renting out a hall. Even so, everything else added up to quite a bit of money.

The trickiest part was picking out wedding bridal dresses with my wife. For most of the preparation, she was willing to use wedding do it yourself tricks in order to save a bit of money now and again, but picking out her wedding dress was an absolutely awful ordeal. In the end, we finally decided that that would be the one area of the wedding where she could spend as much money as she needed to get what she wanted to wear. After all, there is no substituting for the ideal wedding dress.
